E-Liquid Has a New Face

You may have noticed lately that your e-liquid bottles and boxes look a bit different. E-liquid manufacturers have been preparing for a significant FDA compliance deadline. As of August 10th, 2018 all “covered tobacco products” must now include a health warning label informing the consumer about the dangers of nicotine, according to the FDA. “Covered tobacco products” include e-liquid or any pre-loaded vaping device with e-liquid (pods, cartridges). The FDA is giving a one-month grace period for companies to comply. After September 10th of this year, all covered tobacco products must carry the following warning label: “WARNING: This product contains nicotine. WHAT ARE NICOTINE SALTS?

Freebase nicotine has been utilized by most e-liquid manufacturers for many years. It is the purest form of nicotine. In the 1960s Phillip Morris started using it in cigarettes. Today it is also used in gums, patches, sprays and lozenges. Nicotine salts were discovered by Pax Labs, also known as Ploom, an American company founded in 2007. They manufactured the Juul e-cigarette. Nicotine salts are comprised of the same nicotine that is found in the tobacco leaf. Landmark Long Term Study on Vaping by Never-Smokers Finds No Negative Health Impacts

Despite fears of activists, no harm seen after three and a half years of vaping. LONDON, ENGLAND — In a first of its kind long-term study published in the journal Nature, researchers have found no negative health impacts from the daily use of electronic cigarettes by young adult never-smokers. Researchers from the University of Catania, led by Dr. Riccardo Polosa, tracked nine electronic cigarette users with no history of smoking, as well as twelve lifetime non-smokers and non-vapers, over the course of three and a half years.
